GladbachSigns contract extension until 2028
Chiarodia has signed a one-year contract extension with Gladbach until June 2028, the club announced.
Analysis: Chiarodia made 15 Bundesliga appearances this season after returning from injury, taking his overall tally to 37 Bundesliga outings for the club since joining from Werder Bremen in 2023/24. Chiarodia also made his senior Italy debut this month, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in both the 1-0 victory over Luxembourg and the 1-0 win in Greece, underlining his development into a player operating at the highest level. Sporting director Rouven Schroder described him as a young and developable center-back who has proven his potential both at club and now international level, with the extension reflecting the shared belief that his next important career step will come at Gladbach.
Two interceptions in clean sheet
Chiarodia had one tackle (zero won), three clearances and two interceptions in Saturday's 0-0 draw versus Wolfsburg.
Analysis: With Kevin Diks sidelined for this game, Chardiola stepped in and did his job defensively with three clearances, two interceptions and one tackle, contributing to his second clean sheet in six league starts with the club this season.
